This is my latest AMV. I heard the song Centuries back in November, I have been planning this AMV ever since then. I had about 10 pages of notes and frame numbers before I even started editing this video. I recently just finished this AMV and have to say I really enjoyed the process of working on it. I learned some new techniques and opened my mind to some more special effects. For those of you that know me I don't normally use special effects too often however I try to use them when it is appropriate. Between planning and editing I lost count of the number of hours I actually spent on this video. I just got it finished in the middle of March. This is my first multi-anime AMV since 2007, and uses the most animes I have ever used in an AMV before. The idea behind the title Evolution. The reason I named the video this is because of the Evolution of fighting. Going from Samurai all the way up to space battles. The reasons I choose the animes I did is because not only they fit the theme, but they are some of the more iconic animes out there. In the sense that they will be remembered for Centuries. I really hope you guys enjoy it.

Thank you for your feedback. I know I still have a long way to grow as an editor. While the video has been successful at competitions I know that I still need to improve and strive to do better.
I wanted to come across as an evolution of fighting styles and at the same time represent some of the great animes over the past 20 years.

For one, I know for a fact that both Gundam Wing and Outlaw Star have remasters available since I have both of them.
And two, it's going to vary from source to source. You've still got nasty artifacts and obvious interlacing based off the jagged edges. These are even easily seen in the screen caps you selected. As an editor who has been around since usage of DVD footage (including cleaning it) was the major norm, I assumed you'd know this. I don't really feel like going source by source since again, everything is going to require different filtering based on what you're working with.
Not only that, but you've squished any and all 16:9 footage to 4:3 as opposed to properly cropping it. It appears that some cropping was attempted but it's still wrong.

I applied quiet a few filters in avspmod and a lot of these shows such as Gundam Wing, Outlaw Star, and so forth don't have remastered editions. Could you possibly help me out with what filters I could have applied. I tried comparing my footage to what l33tmeatwad had on his site but I'm still not sure what I could have done different. I'm still trying to learn this process of cleaning up really old footage from DVD.
